Mr. Phomer is a Lisbon born but London based jack of all trades, master of some. Mainly all things visual arts but always looking for the next thing.
What are your current inspirations right now?
Lately i dove back into a lot of 60's/ 70's counterculture aesthetics, asian cultural visuals, and mid century Modernism and Abstract Expressionist artists like Robert Motherwell.
How did you initially get into illustration/visuals?
It all came naturally from the skateboarding, music and graffiti days, I always had it with me since I was a kid ( making zines at 11yo ! ) and that community /space was always a space for ever growing inspo and source of work. It never stopped until this day.
Your favourite books/magazines right now?
Got give a few shout outs on this one to all @xrayfreeelectronlaser releases, @the502badgateway, @law_magazine and ofc @editions.kanardo that i've had the pleasure of being featured next to uncle Shawn Stussy!
What advice do we give to anyone just starting out?
It's a bit of a cliche, but honestly, go for what you love. Money and the rest will follow. Don't be afraid to fail, always learn and improve, the best projects will always be the next ones.
What is your creative process like?
It always has to come from a place of inspo, that's maybe the thing i take more time with, a lot of learning and research and trying out and experimenting, even something simple that doesn't look like it, has a lot of hours behind, and then at this point the execution usually comes really quick, i'm skilled and confident enough that once i got a visual image on my head i can easily execute it in no time, but that inspo thinking has to come first for sure.
What's your favourite piece of work you've released in the past few years?
My favourites are usually personal projects ,that some are always yet to be out, and the charity tees i try to put out at least 3 times a year. If I have to point out my couple two favourite jobs last year were definitely all the Adidas Torsion visuals and the last FootPatrol collab and party, community vibes!
What type of music do you listen to whilst working?
Check Sabotage Radio at @sabotagetapes ;)
